People are really weird about BNFs. The term BNF didn't become popular until long after I wasn't one anymore, yet it still lingers. I was at a convention a few years ago and met this girl. We hung out on and off all through the con, but it wasn't until the last day that she springs on me the fact that she was a big fan of my stuff from my old BNF days. I don't consider myself to be a BNF now! That stuff is almost ten years old at this point, but it haunts me!

So I totally get where you're coming from. I'd try branching out away from fandom rps, join an avatar forum like Menewsha or something and find an RP partner that's in it for the RP. Then, even if they do find out, it doesn't matter. They're into you for the RP.
