Yep. I play Farmville for similar enjoyment of relaxation via collection of cutesy virtual stuff. It's fun. It staves off the brain overload issues I get from time to time. I don't understand why the disinterested can't just block the app instead of giving others shit over having fun on the Internet.

I've tried a few non-Zynga versions of their games (including some of the originals) and they're just... boring in comparison? Just not my taste, I guess.

And when people bitch at me for "not playing the original or some non-zynga knock-off"? Ugh! It just screams "ZYNGA IS POPULAR, THEREFORE YOU ARE SHEEP"

I can sort of understand why they're getting on your case if you're actually giving money to Zynga :/ but if you're just playing for free, yeah, I don't see the big deal.

Wait...what is the original version? I play farmville, too. Drives all non-playing friends on my FB crazy. I regularly let my friends know how to block the app when I am playing too much. Enjoy your game, forget about what other people say.

Farm Town was released before FarmVille, and in an article from SF Weekly an ex-employee stated the Zynga staff had been explicitly directed to just copy it.

The thing is, I've played both and I prefer FV, largely because, although they call it a social game, they actually did away with most of the social aspects that FT incorporates. I hate talking to and/or trusting strangers, which is something you need to do if you want to really get ahead in FT.

I do the same as you with not badgering people and letting FB newbies know how to block the app rather than hiding me wholesale. And I don't give money to Zynga, even if it's earmarked for Haiti or whatever. God only knows what they'll actually do with it.

I show my non-playing friends how to block apps too, but some of them are dicks about it. :( "no, i need to know who to juuuuuudge" Ugh, seriously, just block it and stop wasting your time RAGING about it, it's just a game.

Wasting time raging about it isn't much better than wasting time playing it. :/

Agreed. I don't care if people make fun of the game, but I hate it when people give me shit for it (including trying to make me explain why I play the game, as if this is srs fucking bsns). I play because I work online and take classes online, and like to have a game to play that isn't time consuming when I take breaks from work/school stuff. I don't harass my FB friends. I don't spam their walls with FV shit. Why do they care so much?

Before Facebook gave you the option to block the app from your newsfeed, it bothered me. But it doesn't now, except for those few friends that won't take the hint and stop sending me Farmville invites . . .

Mostly the only time (other than when it was spamming my feed (no, I don't care that you found a lost brown cow, gtfo)) I've ever been a bit annoyed by it was when my coworkers came up to me and were like, "Hey Scrawlers, you're a gamer, right? So you play Farmville, right? Wanna help me harvest my crops?" It made me nerdrage hard, but I just tartly reminded them that, no, when I say that I play video games, I mean video games -- games on consoles or handhelds or that run on a PC independently of any website. I.E., not Facebook games. They were offended, but yeah, I don't like comparing Facebook games to, y'know, actual video games.

But aside from all that, whatever. It's Facebook's version of Harvest Moon, so if people want to play it, they can. It's not my business so long as I'm not bothered.

That said, I don't actually play Farmville. I am, however, really into Sorority Life, which is not Zynga, it's Playdom, but does it seriously in any way matter?? Seriously.
