I was /lucky enough/ (exactly the right words) to react in a certain way, and save my mother's life. My friend had a panic attack and couldn't save her father.
Did she love him less? Did she fail him? Of course not -- it's sacrilege even to mention it.

Orihime haters -- Never, ever, ever pronounce judgements about situations you know absolutely nothing about.

Honestly, I'm rather surprised that anyone could judge one of the youngest protagonists in Bleach, when Kubo himself shows so much compassion and leniency towards a lot of much older and much more morally grey characters. Many of the shinigami, for example, have serious moral failings or weaknesses or doubts, and yet Kubo doesn't judge them in his narrative. Byakuya was forgiven for sacrificing Rukia to a promise made to dead people. Renji was never condemned for cutting himself off from Rukia when she needed him most. Ukitake and Rukia were never condemned for failing to save Kaien. Ikkaku got a talking-to from Iba for hiding his bankai and weakening the Gotei 13, but Kubo doesn't present him as a horrible traitor or anything. Same with Yumichika. Shuuhei was presented sympathetically for being afraid of fighting. And so forth and so on. Kubo presents very, very few of his characters as truly evil (and of course, they pretty much all get leatherpantsed by the fans), and he certainly never presented Orihime as a bad person, quite the contrary. So why so much hate towards a young teenage girl with massive protection issues, who just wants to help her friends and never wanted anyone to get into troubles for her?? It's really insane...
