It's not so much misandrist as gender essentialist. Lumping all women together and saying we all think and act the same is pretty harmful to women as well.

None of the traits listed were unique spechul female characteristics (and I think very few traits actually are).
It is a sentiment I like for humans in general though.

When I originally read it, I read that bit not as saying that men weren't those things or couldn't do those things, since the culture assumes that they are and can, but that women - who have been for so long told that they shouldn't - were and could. But then (a) I was brought up by scary fundies who still don't let women vote on church business, and (b) it's not like the work that comes from is particularly coherent in any direction.

IA - the SCUM Manifesto is mostly about reversals, as if the author was telling HERSELF that everything she had ever been told about women and all the expectations ever piled on her because she was a woman were lies. She was asserting she was a complete, imaginative person and not a baby-making factory.

I don't see it as 'misandrist bullshit' in context because the text addresses it directly: "...most philosophers [...] label the male condition the Human Condition" - Solanas is doing the same, responding to essentialism with essentialism, writing as if herself and her individual problems were universalised, personifying herself as a Society with a membership of 1. She uses this device to say some nasty, mean things. Meanwhile, men still do this shit all the time; we get told all the time what a 'real man' is and how to be one rather than considering all good traits as universal rather than gendered.

It's a horrible document in many ways, but also a valuable one and I'm honestly glad it exists.

Why is there adorable shit in the SCUM manifesto

Yeah, there's a fair few bits of it about female bonding and nonsexual love for each other as individuals. (Not sure as to what extent this was true for Solanas in real life). One of few other places where I've ever seen that seriously addressed in a political sense was in fandom, many many years ago (http://dsudis.livejournal.com/66748.html?thread=340668#t340668).

I'm seriously incredibly uncomfortable with the term "female function."

Yeah, so was she; the rest of that paragraph is about how men see women as interchangeable cogs that all serve the same functions (making babies, providing men with emotional comfort and ego boosts) rather than as individuals.
