Interesting because I've found it to be nothing but friendly and open and positive. Pretty much the exact opposite of this. I don't think this is a very fair judgement call to be making after only one month of being in the fandom and every fandom I know of is full of slash and shipping so I don't think that's a reasonable thing to dump on this one for.

I was in the fandom longer than that. (And when I say fandom, I'm referring specifically to the capslock community.) I dicked around and had fun with everyone for about two months, than the two girls who ran it kind of gave it over to someone else (I don't remember exact details, cus it's been a while), and the month (or two, again, it's been a while) following that was when it got clique-y and non-stop slash. So, since I wasn't in one of the cliques, I figured there was no point in me staying in the fandom, because the capslock community (which was previously about dickery and capslock shit) turned into nothing but buttsex, which I... don't really want in a capslock community. I never joined the main community because it was (at the time, idk about now) nothing but slash. And of course there were all the offshoot slash and pairing communities, which were, again, all slash. So the one community that WASN'T slash turned into a slash community, and I was pretty fed up at that point.

Every fandom IS full of slash, of course. But not every fandom is nothing BUT slash. I've been in plenty of other fandoms that had plenty of slash. Like I said, I AM a slasher. But that's not all I am, I actually like discussing things besides who did the nasty. Since all the Metalocalypse fandom was at the time was a bunch of slash, and little to nothing else, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to say it was like this.

I don't know when you got involved. Maybe it's not like that anymore, I haven't checked into it in a while. But that was where I last left it, and my friend who is involved in the fandom hasn't led me to believe it's changed in any significant way.
