what comms have you been joining? me of my best friends in fandom are from the wwe fandom here. yeah, for the most part the fic suchs, but there are some gems.
have you joined wwegirls that is the best place to go imo.
a lot of the bashing is because people really love there favorite wrestler, and hate every other guy that comes in his way. but there are a lot of smart fans here on LJ. you just gotta look in the right places.

I lurk over at wwegirls and you are all quite nasty towards some of my favorite wrestlers so that's why I personally never joined. :\

And please learn to spell. Their = possessive (their favorite wrestler). There = place or at a point in action (let's go over there). They're = They are (they're so mean). More than one spelling of the word, sport.

If you're looking outside of LJ, I really like the WrestleCrap forum. It's hilarious, and good wrestling and wrestlers are appreciated. Only place to ever make me laugh at 6.30AM. On LJ? I don't really know. ~wwegirls is good, but I can't really think of a place that fits what you're looking for. I'm not even sure it really exists on all of the Intertubes. I'm sorry.

That is so sad to know! I'm not being sarcastic, OP. Pro wrestling was my very first fandom, years back. We used to have those old school, thread message boards where fans used to post all sorts of crazy fiction, and just get together and squee. You could ship whomever (And I DO meant whomever), and talk about who ever you liked, and no one harshed your happy times.

It was such a cool fandom to start it, and it really saddens me to know it's morphed into something so elitist.

Right there with ya. The ShMARTASS board and Jackyl's board were probably my favorite, and I can't remember a single flamewar or bit of nastiness in something like four years. It was such a great and positive community of fans.

I'll third the rec for wrestlecrap. There's not the stupid obsession with star ratings that you get on a place like WF, nor is there the extreme focus on wrestling from several decades ago like at the DVDVR board or WC. It's mostly current and mostly easygoing.

Jumping into say that yes, OP, Opera is living proof that you meet the coolest wrestling fans on F!S. A couple years ago, I posted a wrestling secret, and delurked because Opera (and yesdrizella and evilgmbethy and especially angstbunny) were so awesomely fun and snarky and supportive.
