Klarth and Arche had a cool dynamic, but really, they're the only ones in the phantasia cast with interesing personalities, so...

TALES OF PHANTASIA SECRET YEAAAHHH

I haven't replayed Phantasia in forever, but I think I could see Klarth/Arche (Klarche?) happening. The age difference makes it slightly weird since she's 17* and he's 29, but I seem to recall them having a fun dynamic. All I remember Chester and Arche doing was complaining about/arguing with each other.

Hell, to be honest, Klarth and Arche were the only characters who had any distinguishable personalities. Everyone else (hi, Cless!) was painfully boring.

*Does anyone know or remember whether half-elven blood means you stop aging altogether past a certain point, or just age very slowly...?

I think in Tales of Symphonia, half elves aged like normal humans up to a certain point, and then they just aged very very slowly. If I remember correctly, there were some older-looking elves in Heimdall and the floating half-elven city. And since ToS and ToP technically take place in the same universe, I'm assuming that would be the same?

Ah, that makes sense. Come to think of it, yeah, there were some older-looking elves (it was damn hard to tell how old people were supposed to be when they were all rendered in that same cutesy style, though) scattered around. I just remember the Pope saying, "She doesn't grow older! She terrifies me!" etc. about Kate, and stuff like that, but he might not have meant that completely literally.

You're probably on the right track, yeah. (: I fangasmed like an idiot when I heard the world map music in Symphonia 2. "Wait, that sounds familiar... OH MY GOD IT'S PHANTASIA'S WORLD MAP MUSIC."

Yeah, the Pope doesn't really know what he's talking about. It's said in Symphonia that the half-elves don't live quite as long as the elves, but they still live a really long time; it's the reason why Lloyd tells Noishe to go live with Genis and Raine when he dies. =)
