The problem is that the "disability is ALWAYS bad" thing often gets weaponized against people with disabilities; for example, sometimes it gets turned into "if you are disabled, you are bad because disability is always bad." For some people, experiencing disability has contributed to how they see the world. Parts of it can be bad, and parts of it can be not-bad.

I'm not exactly an optimist myself, but one thing that I can say is that being disabled has contributed to my development as a person. There are things about having physical disabilities that suck, sure (physical pain, for example), but at the same time, having to deal with it every day has affected how I view the world in ways that don't majorly suck.

I wish people would stop insisting on good/bad and say something like "disability is just another setback. Y'know, setbacks? We get around those. Sometimes you even learn something on the way."
