There was a secret here a while back complaining about Terezi and the way she found a way to see through licking/smelling -- I guess the OP thought that she should have skipped that and been portrayed as doing just fine without sight. Or something along those lines. Bad memory. (There might have been a Tavros secret, too, maybe...? Probably along the same lines, idk)

That's honestly all I can think of, though. I'm a member of the less-wanky part of the fandom, so maybe that's it, but I've never seen any complaints other than those secrets about the treatment of the disabled characters (and never found any reasons to complain, myself).

I can understand people having some issues with Terezi being able to smell/taste as a way of seeing. But I personally don't have much of a problem with it, it reminds me of Toph from ATLA and her seeing-through-ground-vibration. But unlike Toph, she doesn't have places where she's completely blind (Toph had problems with being in the air and on sand, iirc).

I've taken a few peeks into the fandom (a Tavros rper was what got me to start reading it) and it seems to be pretty awesome and not-very-wanky in general. But I haven't looked too far into it.

(Oh damn it, I've been spelling it wrong for two weeks and no one corrected me aaaaaugh!)

Yeah, I don't have problems with it either. Someone pointed out in the thread about the secret that it'd be tricky for her to use her computer without some means of "seeing," which I think is a pretty good point. (Also, I love Terezi licking stuff. <3 She is my 2nd-favorite troll!)

And for the most part, the fandom is awesome. There are some times, though, when small groups will have ~~DRAMA~~ and various other problems. If you stay out of it, it's all good :D

I know some blind people that can use computers just fine, mostly through the use of special software. So, it can be done. Still, I like Terezi's licking/smelling of stuff - it puts her on this fine line between endearing and kind of creepy. Plus all her mentions of 'blind prophets' ties her other senses back to the tradition of blind people being 'gifted' with foresight to make up for their eyesight in literature. (I also totally love Terezi, shortly after getting to Act 5, I changed my desktop background to this (http://sirisaac.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d2qwb94) because she's so awesome!)
