I had an extremely long argument with one of them, who essentially told me that "nobody cares about feminism" anymore since women are nearly equal to men now (...hmm) and that women just want to be better than men. The other one told me that sexism no longer existed. Wow, who knew?

They are both pretty stupid and up themselves though so as you said, no great loss.

this is why misandry is a completely valid point of view, to be honest...

if a man is going to blatantly belittle my experience, why should i give an actual fuck about his experience? oh, but he's not ALL men... riiiiight.

It is tempting to fall into just thinking that all men don't care and are condescending and insulting about the topic of sexism. But that would be just as irritating and simplistic as what they're thinking, usually "God, all women are just such bitchy attention whores, going on about how they're ~so persecuted~!"

Plus it's not just men that have avoided me or made fun of me because I said I was feminist :/ Most women I mention it to (in context, obviously, not out of nowhere) tend to laugh awkwardly and change the subject or take care to make sure people know THEY'RE not feminist. Too bad the image of feminism in popular culture is of aggressive unshaven lesbian man-haters ): (not that there's anything wrong with not shaving or being a lesbian of course! but people tend not to want to be associated with it)
