It happens a lot; I wouldn't worry about it. Characters don't usually age with their fans in canon, which leads to some disillusionment wrt having feelings for a character in a ~special~ way. But consider that you liked the core of that character and if he were real, he would have grown just as you have, and would still be older than you. I mean, unless you like the very childish aspects of a character still when you're older, it's not all that pedo-y. This is where age-up fanons come in, for when the twenty-somethings get depressed that their favorite anime protagonists will always be 16 in canon.
