That was my first guess, too, but I'm not so sure. Something about the secret makes me think that OP is--or perceives hirself as--a member of a minority group with severe basic visibility issues. OP may feel that this is the case with LGBTQ but it still makes me wonder if perhaps this is something a little more...I want to say 'esoteric'?
