FFX being brilliant is pretty subjective. I haven't been very interested or pleased in FF games since the seventh one aside from the ninth which probably has more to do with nostalgia for me.

Squaresoft and Enix aren't seperate entities, where Enix is forcing terrible ideas for the Square "side" to use. Specifically what has Enix alone done to merit being the problem? What I should have initially said is that both companies (ie: Square Enix) have been lackluster overall. But I'm glad they merged, rather than Square merging with a different one or disappearing altogether with development teams possibly being split up in order to find work.
