Norway? What fandom is it?

I think I remember another secret about someone wanting to move to Norway, but it was a few months ago.

I'm currently amazed that I understand some Norwegian words :D But then again, my mother tongue is German and both languages do belong to the Germanic languages, so there's bound to be some similarity :)

Also, it's a beautiful language. If I had the time, I'd learn so many, but alas...

My money's on SATW or Hetalia.

I agree with the comment above me...

If I learned a Scandinanvian language it would be Swedish for equally capricious reasons. Also if I were moving in that direction I'd want to live in the EU.

Yeah but actually I'm gonna be a life-long USAer...

I'm not judging your reasons at all, but do be aware that, if you plan on making a permanent move, this is a big decision that needs to be weighed heavily and researched heavily. Making a "temporary move" would be smart, maybe via study abroad.

This is advice from someone who is planning on moving to another country herself btw

I took Norwegian courses at my uni because I was required to take a second language and I hadn't seen any other school anywhere that offered Norwegian. Best. Decision. Ever. Det var veldig morsomt og jeg lært mye om Norsk kultur.
(I was aiming for "It was very fun and I learned a lot about Norwegian culture", but might have got it wrong. Be gentle please.)
But definitely take Norwegian, OP! It's a lot of fun, and definitely worth the time. We'd love to indoctrinate you! :D

Du klarte deg bra! Moro (og litt rart) å høre at du har lært norsk på universitetet der du bor, og at du syntes det var kult i tillegg.

Takk! Læreren min er flott; hun laget mat for oss, og vi hørte på musikk og sang i timen. Det er moro å lære fra henne.

(Jeg er ennå en nybegynner i norsk, men jeg vil snakker det flytende en dag.)

Det er jeg sikker på at du klarer! Nettet er en flott plass for å utvide språkkunnskapene. Jeg har det veldig artig her, samtidig som jeg bryner engelsken min. Beste måten å lære på!

Den beste måten å lære et språk på er jo å bruke det. :) Internett og fandom en er kjapp og morsom måte å bruke det på, siden det gjerne er noe man brenner for. Dog jeg lærte kanskje engelsk mye bedre gjennom å lese uhorvelige mengder fantasy og sci-fi bøker, lol.

Alltid morsomt å se en annen nordmann på fandomy steder! :D

Oi oi! Distrahert du gitt? :P Jeg har all respekt for folk som er beta-lesere, men jeg har nok ikke tålmodighet til å gjøre det selv. Jeg får fnatt av folk som driver med særskriving eller som ikke kan forskjellen på your/you're osv, og jeg har ikke lyst til å gå bananas pga noen heller, hehe.

Fordi jeg er nysgjerrig, tok læreren din å lærte dere om dialekter også? Det er jo ganske mange av de og de høres jo ganske forskjellige ut til tider. :3

Aahhh, I feel the same way! The fandom that got me interested was Eurovision (because i fell in love with Alexander Rybak), and that summer I went to a concert up in Tydal, Norway (which is a tiny town with a population of 860 or so), drove through a ton of gorgeous rural landscape to get there, and met more warm, welcoming, and friendly people than I've ever come across in my life. I was only there for two and a half days - and that's obviously nowhere near long enough to get a real taste of the country - but i fell in love with it, and want desperately to learn the language and follow in your footsteps. Sadly, my university doesn't offer it :( but I'm trying my best anyway, and I've discovered a lot of Norwegian songs - it really is a beautiful language, isn't it? It's a shame that it seems to be becoming extinct, from what the people I spoke to in Norway told me.

tl;dr: Norway and Norwegian is beautiful, I agree 100%, and I am very jealous of you!

There are all kinds in Norway, as everywhere, but it sure is pretty (if you like it a bit on the snowy side ;)

An yes, the language will probably be extinct, but it's a couple of generations away still.You have time to learn yet. ;D

Norway is the most BEAUTIFUL country I've ever visited (and I'm Portuguese - Portugal has AMAZING landscapes for all tastes) and I've been to 15 different countries.

The people are great and the food is amazing. If you do well with cold and Winter, then it's the way to go, OP. :)

Like any other Scandinavian country: if you can survive the dark and the cold, you'll love it.

Trust me, I moved to Sweden and I've not yet looked back. :)

(Though... I'd recommend going to visit first, for sure!)

I feel just like you, i mean, i've been to Norway this year and i fell in love with it at first sight. Such a gorgeous country with lovely people and omg, the language is so pretty.
Even though it's quite different for me since it's not a latin language and all, but i do support you on your decision.
