I think the reason it gets so much flak is because people don't get that it isn't supposed to be a serious alien movie. It's a dumb parody of cheesy 50s alien films based off a ridiculous card series. It's so bad it's good. XD

I didn't watch that movie until I was in my early teens or so, because those aliens scared the crap out of me as a little kid. I still think the aliens are kinda creepy-looking.
