That's an absurd assumption. If you want stupid censorship laws, go to Germany. In the Meet the Team videos the guys are robots who explode into fountains of oil and gears, and in-game characters don't bleed at all, yet Valve didn't make fun of them in particular. If Valves portrayal of Australia was in any way mean-spirited we would have known about it.

I don't find that running joke funny at all, but... Australia has always been the joke country. It's not just TF2 making fun of it. I'm not condoning it but you can't just be singularly mad at Valve when there's a rich long history of taking the piss out of those kangaroo-riding barbie-shrimp-eating criminals

That's true enough. The nicest guy I ever met was a Kiwi, never said a bad word about anyone, grumbled, griped, always approached everything with a smile and an excited attitude (I still remember getting a call one day: "I got police searched! It was so cool! I've got a little pink slip that says 'Not a Threat!'").

The jokes I best remember from him were all Aussie jokes. Hi-larious.

I don't know about you, but I think it'd be awesome if my country was displayed in some way in Team Fortress 2 canon in all its' sillyness.

Yeaaaah, that's facetious humor, and video game developers have a particular bone to pick with Australia because of the stupid censorship laws.

How is that episode awful..? It was the same facetious poking fun of Australians, the Simpsons have done it with all other countries they've visited as well (Great Britain, the African continent, Japan, etc), and do it with/to American culture in every episode.

I thought it was lazy and poorly-researched. Obviously it's meant to be satirical, but there wasn't enough truth behind the jokes for them to be funny for me. I guess YMMV.

Take a joke, I'm an Australian and all of my Australian friends and I love TF2verse Australia and Saxton Hale. Valve also mock America by having the patrioric American be the dumbest and least tolerant of the group, and they mock France by having the Frenchie be a suave, sexy ladkiller who devolves into a snorting retard when overly amused, or screeching like a cat when hit with a jar of old piss.
