I think he can be a good role model, if you look at the right things. Yes, there is the tendency to sleep with everyone in sight, but he's also loyal, loving, and very protective of his team. Plus, he has to have an incredibly strong mind to cope with the things he's been through and not go insane.*

...or maybe I just love the character too much.

*I'd add "open minded" to the list, but I still haven't gotten over the transphobic comment in Greeks Bearing Gifts. :(

I agree with all of this. He's my favorite character out of the Doctor Who squad.

Jack's shown a million times he doesn't care about gender qualities whatsoever. I think in this instance it's more, he needed to pay better attention. I don't really read that as transphobic at all, esp since he's shown by ~lifestyle that's just not true. But I can see why it'd rub someone wrong.
