My SO is FtM and we've talked in-depth about how in our head-canon House is FtM. Mostly because he has those little moments of "Yeah, I understand because I'm different too." with the "non-normals" who come in, who aren't chronic pain sufferers. Why Wilson would be so spazzy at the idea of House letting Cameron in close enough (Since she's utterly the kind of person who would feel it was in House's best interest to post his trans status in the hospital newsletter because that's the kind of thing he should take pride in! And everyone should accept! And she knows better than him about these things!)And because the way House's parents treat him strike a little too close to home. Heck, even why his leg happened because I know if a man comes in with pain they scan every inch of him and if a woman comes in with pain the tell her she's probably pregnant or PMSing, go home and take a Midol.

It's not really a "looking for representation" so much as... eeh, well, writers like to pull the "I understand you!" bullshit with a lot of characters without a real explanation, and it's an explanation that sort of fits. (For perfect example of "I understand you! For bullshit reason!" see Grissom from CSI. Having hearing issues makes you a Furry Fandom expert and sympathizer? Whut? Not mocking hearing issues, just... where does the Furry come in?)
