It's not the show (or just the show) it's the hype, the fandom. We get together and have big online parties and get each other all excited about the next episode, the newest spoiler. It's the sense of community and shared joy that makes Supernatural seem so beloved.

And it's a good show.

I love season six. I've got a few quibbles, but overall I'm loving it. And fandom is mostly still fun, except for the above average (it seems) levels of complaining.

I'm not involved with the internet hype of the show (although it seems like it would be fun) but the show itself is interesting if you are into the supernatural or paranormal type aspects. T

Plus to a lot of people, Dean & Sam are eye candy, with a lot of the other cast who frequents the show.

tbh it's probably mostly the fandom. The show is good, when it's on its game it bumps up to great! But the fandom (the size and productivity and level of excitement and squee) makes it AWESOME. :D

It's one of those weird things where the fandom is half the fun, I think. Like, the show by itself is cool and fun and everything, but I feel like the fans made it what it is, and that's why the fandom's so special/weird/insane.

Dude.

I was a huge Dark Angel fan. Like, crazy super-obsessed huge. Thought about it all day long. Spent all my time online chilling with the fandom. Wrote fic like there was no tomorrow.

Yet, even then, I could admit that it wasn't exactly Emmy-worthy material, and that Jessica Alba wasn't exactly the best actress ever (ha, not even close!). I knew it wasn't a great show -- but damn, I loved it anyway.

Me too. I enjoy the show okay, but no, it's not a huge deal to me, either. But like some others have suggested, I bet fandom has a lot to do with it. There are some shows that I enjoy a lot on their own, but being part of those particular fandoms has made them much more special.

Also, for me, the brothers are a lot like my sister and I so I identify with it in a lot of ways. And the music and the classic cars, and also I'm completely smitten with Jared Padalecki, so that doesn't hurt either.

I'm wondering what exactly you mean by "hype?" Do you mean the size and activity of the fandom? The show's presence online?

Cause aside from that Supernatural is the most underrated show on TV. It has lower ratings than most other scripted shows. It never gets a nod from the Emmie's. It never had a cover (or a mention) in TV guide until the fans voted their asses off and put it there. It isn't mentioned on any of the entertainment shows. And it recently got shoved over to Fridays = night of the living shows death.

If we're talking real hype, Glee has that. Heroes used to have it. And The Vampire Diaries enjoys some undeserved amount. Supernatural just has a huge active fandom of people who know what a great yet overlooked show it is and do the work networks and advertisers should do to give it recognition and keep the show from getting canceled.

I used to love this show. It all started falling apart in season 3. But I stuck with it. Season 6 came along and HOLY SHIT IS IT A BUNCH OF FUCKING CRAP OF EPIC PROPORTIONS.
