Yeah, utter lack of Cobb/Saito disappointed me as well. I thought it would be way more popular since there certainly was some interesting character dynamics there.

... huh? I always thought there was a surprisingly big amount of Cobb/Saito out there, especially in the early weeks of fandom.

There's some. Although I'll admit I read it in an A/E fic as beta couple.

But fandom works that way I guess. I mean I'd be interested in both. I also think Ariadne/Yusuf would be kinda interesting from the times I've seen it in the background. Anyway anon I'm sure some lovely person here will be able to rec you some fic?

I love A/Y too but I've only found one realllly good one and it too was a "background" fic.

I'm hoping they do so I can steal some too ;)

I have been complaining about this as well! I've read it IN A/E stories and I've liked the dynamic but I want it to be the MAIN pairing, not the side one! :(

There is no way I can say this without being called a troll, but oh wells...

The bitter truth, Anon? There are so many SJ wankers in the fandom that the smart kids realized if they wrote Saito one just a teensy bit problematic, or if they phrased something awkward that might, by only one person, be misconstrued as something racially appropriative, then a lot of very vocal SJ'ers were going to lose their shit.

I swear I remember after it came out people going "OMG, Cobb/Saito OTP!" and then writing...everything else but.

Saito is brown, that's why.

I don't read/write it because I can't read NC-17 fic w/Cobb (I can't sexualize him for some reason... young Leo could get it, tho) but I wish there was more Robert/Saito!

You just need to learn to spot the obvious ship before you walk out of the theater, and then you can come to terms with your disappointment that you are not shipping the popular ship, even if you see how clearly better/obvious it is. It's hard shipping Sobb, and nobody understands

it kind of makes me want to write one of my own

Someone who understands my pain! T_T I was down with Arthur/Eames until it TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE FANDOM, GAH.

I ship Arthur/Eames and all but even when I was first looking for fic I didn't realize it was going to be the fandom juggernaut.

I think a fun part of the fandom is there are plenty of characters and plenty of ways to mix them up. (I'm a bit of a sucker for Arthur/Mal.) It's just a shame it's hard to find certain pairings.

I knew Arthur/Eames was the big pairing before I saw the film, so I entered the film/fandom primed for that. I wonder what would have happened if I'd seen the film completely blind.

Agreed. Seriously...it was the main pairing that occurred to me while watching. I thought fandom would be all over it. Personally, it's more interesting for me too. So it's a shame there isn't much out there.
