Really? I don't think I've EVER been in a fandom that's even remotely wanky (except for short episodes of disagreement with no big consequences) ... I guess I just got lucky with my fandoms.

The magical fandom of non-wankiness is to me Inglourious Basterds, mainly because I expected it to be really wanky, or even downright aggressive. The only wank I ever saw there was related to one of the actors (Eli Roth) and had so little to do with everything else that went on in fandom that you could just ignore it. Apart from that? Everyone seemed to follow the golden rule of "don't like, don't read (and maybe rant a little, but nothing vicious)"
In most of my other fandoms I suppose I just steered away from the wank communities and stuck to pairing comms (best example: True Blood has a wanky fandom in general, but Eric/Godric-shippers are as friendly and sane as fans can get, in my experience). Then again, I've never been in any of the big wank fandoms like, dunno, HP, SPN, Glee, stuff like that, so I guess I'm just spoilt.

Oh I see thanks for replying! It's SUCH a good movie, that one.

Yes in Merlin the shipping comms (Merlin/Gwaine for eg) are wank free but the anon meme is daily wank. I usually avoid those big ones now simply because of their bad reputations =/ oh well.
