Takumi did say that he wanted to move away from Ace Attorney some while ago, while he was working on Ghost Trick, but he later said that fandom pressure was making him reconsider. Unfortunately I don't have the link on hand... But a few months later he revealed he was helping with Layton vs Gyakuten, so clearly he's not through with AA for good.

GT didn't exactly light up the charts in Japan so if it doesn't take off here, he may reconsider his position.
