I hate the way every time Vagrant Story gets mentioned in interviews with SE staff, it manages to be both held up as an example of their greatest work and at the same time used as a cautionary tale for why they're so afraid to take risks. Make up your minds.

VAGRANT STORY SECRET ♥

Vagrant Story's soundtrack is one of the best game soundtracks I've heard, so getting a rearranged version would be pretty sweet. But the game itself looks pretty amazing even on PS1, and I don't think voice-acted cutscenes would add anything substantial to the experience, so there's nothing much that warrants a remake.

Now more non-Final Fantasy Ivalice Alliance in general from the same team would be amazing though.

I never got a chance to play this game when it was around, and to this day, it remains one of the biggest regrets of my life.

Only trumped by the fact that I've yet to beat Xenogears 13 years since I first got the game.

That said, they're at least releasing it on the PSN soon. Hopefully.

1: VAGRANT STORY SECRET OMG YAY.

2: Oh man, no one but the original team should ever touch Vagrant Story. One exception: I have always wanted to see Sydney drawn by Yoshitaka Amano. I mean, Amano seems to like drawing slender blondes and sharp pointy things, and that pretty much sums up Sydney. But a modern S-E remake... I'm imagining a Nomura-ized Ivalice, and it is horrifying.

It does really need to be remade, though. I got a big HDTV this year, big enough that VS looks... kinda boxy. :( VS is supposed to always look beautiful, as far as I'm concerned. Also I want people other than me to write fic about it again. I, uh, don't want voice acting, though, for my own selfish reasons.

3: I would also be down with an arranged OST, as long as it was actually orchestral. I seem to remember S-E doing a Final Fantasy compilation album where they remixed a bunch of songs to sound more cheap and synthy than they sounded in the old games. :P

Trufax, OP. Vagrant Story has been given a new ESRB rating with Sony as the publisher. Which means that this will very, very likely be on the Playstation Network soon. Along with Legend of Mana. Vagrant Story and Legend of Mana on my PSP? Yes, please~

Color me excited. :D
