"Outsider being accepted after proving him/herself" describes the majority of the fantasy genre. If that's your only selling point, you could do so much better. I mean, I liked it too when I was 13-15ish, but you make it sound like Naruto is the master of that trope or something.

"Outsider being accepted after proving him/herself" isn't anywhere on this secret, though...? I think it's more that his demeanor towards life and his friends never waivers - he's always happy and cheerful, though he does calm down a bit in the later episodes. It is indeed hard to keep that sort chipper outlook when you're dealing with a hard time in your life.

And honestly, does the quality of the show matter? I personally couldn't get into it aside from a few bits of the manga, but I don't think that should invalidate the inspiration the OP got from it. It seems like you're reading the secret completely wrong. *shrug*

But yes, I adore the art style. ♥ It's rough, but fun, and pretty unique!

I just used a picture from the manga because I liked it, I only watched the subbed version of Naruto (the anime), and never read the manga version of it. I don't read manga, esp ones over 10 volumes.

Awwww, I'm no longer a fan, but Naruto as a character is such an adorable, optimistic kid that it's hard not to love him.

There's no shame in being inspired by his story!
