I tend to get excited when I don't recognize a band on a fanmix! On average I've made about one fantastic discovery for every three wtfs.

I'd definitely encourage being openminded and avoiding a music rut (be it mainstream or indie), but I also wouldn't be ashamed of what you like. Regardless of what it is, if it makes you wanna dance then there's nothing wrong with it :]
