Anon, you're fine, just don't swing in completely the opposite direction. There's nothing wrong with being a few sheets to the wind on special occasions. I suggest you pick a safe group of friends who'll take care of you if you get hammered, figure out what your drinking limits are in a safe environment, just so you know how to tell for the future, and learn from that how many drinks is a good number for you. You want to be able to have fun without completely obliterating your ability to tell when something is a bad decision.
Alcohol and inebriation are not inherently bad things. Being unable to have fun at all without drinking and perpetually getting drunk to the point of blacking out, on the other hand, are not so great, but figuring out that you like a beer or three at a party with the right people isn't going to automatically turn you into an alcoholic.
Seriously, just figure out your limits, keep a handle on it, don't feel guilty, don't drive, and enjoy your moderation!
