All these reason you've given are about 50% of the reasons I watch Torchwood (the other 50% is Tosh). JB's acting is f*ing hilarious. I can't imagine anyone else pulling off the role's BATSHIT RIDIC SCENERY CHEWING characteristics with such flare.

This secret reminds me of an old episode of The News Quiz where someone, I think it's Miles Jupp, says "I can't hear showtunes. I once had a car trip to Southampton with John Barrowman and ever since then I can't hear them. All I get is just a low hum and jazz-hands waving." Which I think says as much about Barrowman as you need to know. I still think he's awesome.

I dunno, I like him as Captain Jack but not as himself (haven't seen him much as himself,) but I tell myself there must be a reason he's so popular in the UK. Couldn't be just his good looks.

I agree that he seems that way in TV interviews, but if you watch stuff like the Tennant Tapes on the Doctor Who Series 3 DVDs, he seems jovial, but calmer.

I like Barrowman. I think the people who absolutely hate him are the people who take him too seriously.

All of your reasons are the reasons that I <3 JB. He's loud, obnoxious, and totally over the top. He's also kind, compassionate, and a sweetheart of a man.

My problem?

I can't STAND his husband. Scott is an obsessive fuckwit who says (and does) some pretty mean shit to John. Hell, John's even talked about some of it in interviews. But people seem to look at it with a "tee hee, oh Scott just loves his John soooo much".

Yeah. Right.

If it was a woman, people would be screaming "RUN! Get away from that dude!"

Posting this as a mousey because, well, most of JB's fans would crucify me for not thinking that Scott is the bee's knees and John is super lucky to have him. :/

I love Captain Jack Harkness.

But when John Barrowman is on TV I have to turn it off. He's just too damn much and makes me feel really weird and unhappy.
