I wish more people would come out and say they think he's a brave hero who has done a lot of good and a rapist. Seriously, you can be both. Good people do horrible things. Horrible people do good things.

Seriously, that's about my view of it. It really doesn't have to be an either/or situation. I mean I guess I wouldn't call him a hero if he were to be convicted, but I can (and do) still believe the work he did was a good thing.

I was going to say that. People are rarely all good or all bad. He can be a guy who runs a politically charged website (that may or may not have posted something useful) and be someone who may have committed rape and sexual assault.

Yeah, it doesn't have to be "I think he's done good and therefore the charges are fake!" vs. "He did a horrible thing so everything else he's ever done is also horrible and/or useless!" but that's what so many of the arguments seem to boil down to.

You raise a valid point, but I think the cables situation is unique enough that it's actually kind of hard to tell WHAT Spider would do. There's the whole 'journalistic integrity' thing too, which Spider only keeps to when it suits him.
