He's a rapist.

WikiLeaks is bigger than Julian Assange. There's really no point in even bringing it up when discussing the fact that he is a rapist.

No, he's accused of rape.

That is not the same as being an actual rapist.

Same is being accused of murder, does not necessarily mean you're a murderer.

Innocent people are accused all the time.

But we don't act as though someone who accuses another person of murder or burglary is automatically lying the way a lot of people do about rape-accusers.

We don't. But nobody is talking about rape in general besides you and meran. They're talking about this specific instance.

The people in this thread have all agreed that assuming all accusations of rape are false is bad.

What? I haven't been talking about rape in general except the comment directly above this one. Every other comment I've made has directly related to Julian Assange's case, and the circumstances thereof.

Ehm, if in this specific case, if he was accused of murder, and the circumstances were equally shady, I very much would assume lying is a very distinct possibility.

Let's assume someone was found dead in his flat with a overdose or something like that...my suspicion radar would be all over the place.

I do not assume rape victims are lying in most cases.

But it IS a very grave charge.

And if men get accused of it while being innocent, it pretty much ruins their lives, too.
So it shouldn't be assumed that every rape accusation, always and ever will be true, too.

Didn't he already admit to having sex with someone while she was asleep? It seems like the people who defend him usually say something like "well he had sex with her while she was sleeping but its ok because she was flirting with him" or something crazy like that.
