Duh that sucks :/ I used to focus on Link really hard and just hack with the sword at anything that moved.
I... admire you for your ability to go close enough to them to put a cup over them. I'm usually still scared even with the vacuum cleaner turned on and aimed at the little fuckers.

... gosh that never happened to me, thank god. Haha yes I've turned the games (MM, OOT and TP) off so often it's embarassing :D

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends how big they are actually, if it's a Hunter spider and I have no cups then I immediately turn into a 5 year old and scream for my daddy to get it away from me. XD

But yeah part of what I love about Zelda games is the ability to face all these creepy things and just hack and slash away because I'm the kickass Hero of Time, biatches. ;)

I don't trust vaccum claners, ever since I tried to suck one up and it got sucked, but somehow missed the hole and wound up by my hand. I have no idea by the laws of physics that even happened but it proves God hates me. >,<

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha you're totally me :D

I don't trust vaccum claners, ever since I tried to suck one up and it got sucked, but somehow missed the hole and wound up by my hand.
omg that is the ultimate nightmare :(:(

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no no no, the ultimate nightmare is what happened to my friend Lu.

She was lying in bed and could hear this light "tap, tap, tap" come from somewhere. Then there was a *THUD* and she turned on the desk light to see a hunter spider the size of her hand having landed on her pillow, just inches from her face...

Yes, you may scream. XD

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

jfc :( the creepiest about this is that she could actually hear the thing!

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Word!

You know what I just realized? Zelda is the video game equivalent of a Disney movie. It has this facade of "oh it's a magical, whimsical, fairy tale adventure set in a fantasy world". When really it's full of f*cked up, dark and scary shit. And god bless them for it. ^_^

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha omg so true. Although I think that Zelda pulls it off, uh, darker, whereas Disney is more subtle with it... and thank god for that, because my friend and I tend to watch a Disney movie straight after watching a horror film just to get rid of all the scary imagery :D

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
True, Disney tends to end on such a high note that all the darkness is forgotten. Whereas at the end of a Zelda game, while there are happy scenes playing in the credits, there's always something to remind you of how bad some of it was. Like the Butler crying for his son at the end of MM. :(

I hope Skyward Sword is able to give us some sweet nightmare fuel, despite its colorful look. Wind Waker was able to be a bit chilling with the whole great flood/"YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU" thang. Seriously, I jumped when Ganon said that. It didn't help that the controller rumbled!

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Never played Wind Waker (or finished MM, for that matter -.-) but you're totally right. Nintendo just gives you the sweetest world with a wonderful history and awesome music and as you begin to explore it... darkness lurking in every corner. I mean, even Kokiri village has that touch of sadness to it, that a Kokiri is never able to return once they left the village... or like the desert temple in TP, with that story with the sages... and the most awful bossfight ever Oo

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That's something I love about all Zelda games, especially OoT. It feels so much like you're in this real world with its own mythology and history spanning back decades with all these different races. And all the races have their own deities, legends and just basic ways of living. It's not shoved in your face either, it's all subtle and sometimes just said by random NPC's who you don't even have to talk to. Like what one person says about how Guerudo women would come to Hyrule to seduce the men to get pregnant. Or yeah, about Kokiri children not being allowed to leave the forest because they become like the Skull Kid.

And one of my favorite locations is in Majora's Mask is the Shadow Temple. Almost nothing is explained about it in-game but you look at all the symbols on the walls, the sexual carvings, the inverted Triforces etc and people have come up with so many theories like that it was supposedly built to insult Hyrule's gods. Though the creepiest thing about that temple for me is just having to use that song to create those statue versions of yourself. Especially the 'fake Link' one. If you didn't get far enough in Majora's Mask to know what I'm talking about then...you're very lucky. ;)

What do you consider the most awful bossfight ever then? Unless you're talking about the giant spider in the Temple of Time which honestly didn't bother me that much for some reason. Maybe because the spider was 'too' big, who knows. :P That and the ending with the eye is just...wow, Fail.

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes and yes. ♥

... I hadn't gotten that far, but I think I'll check it out on youtube later :D It sounds creepy as hell but also very interesting!

Haha the spider was okay actually... boss fights tend to freak me out less than normal enemies, simply coz you know they will never come back, unlike for example the big spiders in the wood temple in TP. Well since TP is the only game I've finished so far (massive fail D: ) let's see about those bosses... definitely the one in the desert temple (Stallord), that one was awful. I don't know why, but I found it really hard to beat. I know that everybody says Zant was bad, but he wasn't that terrible once you knew what to do. He was creepy though D:
The saddest boss was the Yeti's wife in the snow temple :( I felt so bad while fighting her because those two shared the sweetest romance!
Uh and basically Ganondorf except in the very last fight.

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely do. It's worth checking out when you think how much fun the game designers must have putting in all those little touches to places. :D

You mean you haven't even finished OoT? :O

I always have a problem with Stallord. The first part anyway with the surfing through armies of dead soldiers to get to him (sand-surfing + zombies...only in Zelda!) but the second part isn't too bad.

Now Zant...Ah, Zant. First part of the game, I thought this guy was the shit. He just wandered into the castle and basically said "Surrender or die" and was so scary no one dare tried the latter. And the best scene is after the Water Temple where he tries to persuade Midna to help him. Damn, that guy was so cool! He was like the Twilight Darth Vader at first. And then...the boss fight. :-/ And he turned into this silly, dancing clown. Don't get me wrong, it was still creepy because you got it that this guy was out of his mind but I just thought he made a badass villain beforehand. I found fighting him incredibly easy though.

Oh Yeto and Yeta <3 Screw Anju and Kafae (joking, I love them too), these guys were the cutest couple in Zelda history. I got scared when the boss battle was over and Yeto rushed over to her because I thought I'd killed her. Eeep. But "she got better" so yay.

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
No, I haven't :( I've got it on my PC, but I've been forever, eh, stuck in the Forest Temple. Too scared :D
MM, I had on my old laptop and only recently downloaded again...
But TP I played on the GameCube (which my ex has grrrrr >.<) that's the only one I ever got through, I'm somehow better at playing a game on a console than on the computer. Duh.
Oh and I'm almost done with Oracle of Seasons lol.

Zant was... amazing in his own right. I didn't love him, but I admit that as a villain he was pretty cool. And creepy. No music when he speaks! Scary mask and scary face! And still he was so sad... which reminds me, before fighting him you had to get those "suns" through the temple... remember the hand following you through the door and stuff? Gah! Nintendo sure has a thing for hands :/

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
You know you can get the Zelda's Collectors Disk that has both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, as well as the first two 2D Zelda games, for the Gamecube? If you ever get a GC again or even a Wii you probably find it easier playing them on there as I did when my N64 crashed (*sob*).

Haven't played any of the handheld Zelda's yet. I fail. What's OoS like?

Yes, he was so creepy and just had me really intregued when I started the game. I didn't love him either but I wanted to, I really wanted to but he just got screwed over a bit. But still cool. Ah yeah, the Twili disturbed me a bit. They never spoke, they would just gasp and smile in awe. Midna said something about them having reverted to a child-like race which is kind of sad, especially when you see what Zant did to them and they're just helpless.

Oh god, the Wallmasters returned in the Twilight Temple as well! And just how they slowly creep up on you as you're trying to rush through with the 'sun' while monsters attack you...and that music when it comes close! *shudder*

[identity profile] zhyvae.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah that sounds good, I'll try and remember that :)

Oos is unbelievably cute. Somehow it lacks all the darkness of the other games, if only in the world design. It's about a dark general stealing the dancer Din, who controls the seasons. When she goes missing, Link receives the rod of seasons and has to collect 8 essences of nature to restore order. I've only played OoS and not Oracle of Ages as well, so I'm more or less missing half of the story but that's ok. OoS is fun to play, not too hard (not even for someone who had never played something on a gameboy before, like me! :D) and you can change the seasons, which changes the environment around you. I like it a lot, it's something you can pick up and play for an hour to cheer you up.

:( I know, they were awful... especially when you managed to run into another room without losing the 'sun' and think you're save, and then the thing gets through the door ... /still scared

I just had a look at the Stone Tower Temple in MM and... wow, that is some really creepy stuff there :O I mean Majora's Mask is a fucked up anyway but that :/ I'll probably play that part of the game with one eye closed if I ever get there. The game designers for Zelda really are ingenious... even if they design their children's games like horror games lol

[identity profile] innatizzy.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that first paragraph, all of it. The little details in all the different cultures within OoT is a huge part of why I love that game.

That, and riding around on Epona. That's just goodtimes right there.

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, riding around on Epona was the first thing I ever did when I played it at my best friend's house, because he knew I'd love doing that instead of the sword-fighting questing. But I soon fell in love with that too and everything else Zelda ;)

Oh and I'll always remember after Epona he said "I'll take you to this place, it's beautiful." and showed me Zora's Domain, both frozen and unfrozen. It was like the most romantic date two nine year olds could have. <3 It's still my favorite area.

[identity profile] andromeda-2.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
...Sexual carvings in the Shadow Temple? OK, I haven't played MM in years, but this is the first time I've heard of it! :O But um, do you mean the Shadow Temple in OOT or MM? You mention Hyrule's Gods and Triforce, which if I recall correctly were never mentioned in Termina...

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
*facepalm* I meant the Stone Tower Temple. I fail.

But the Triforce does appear there. When you're about to go into Stone Tower, once you've turned the place upside down, the Triforce is on the bottom of the giant rocks you use to cross into the temple.

[identity profile] andromeda-2.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh yeeeaah, now that you mention it, I think I do vaguely remember seeing it there. Guess I didn't ponder too much on it when I saw it the first time.

[identity profile] andromeda-2.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
And by "it" I mean the Triforce mark. Just to clarify.

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest it is all stuff that you can blink and miss. I didn't realize how much though until I read this:

http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/nes-snes-n64-zelda/50295-stone-tower-of-babel-why-termina-was-doomed.html

Just some really geeky cool theories. :)
