I always liked Gambit.

Actually I had the same kind of problem with his name (and the names of quite a few other Marvel characters), but at least I can blame it on the fact that I was far from fluent in English when I started reading comics. :D

Aww, I always loved Gambit (and Gambit/Rogue or Gambit/Storm) although I felt vaguely embarrassed about it because he was regarded (is still regarded?) as a kind of Poochie the Skateboarding Dog kind of character.

It gets worse...I love Pete Wisdom/Kitty Pryde.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? I mean, like, yeah. Broke up (in a badly-written comic), didn't speak together in real-time for ten years, still broken up. Kitty's a giant a bullet and Pete's comic got canceled. BUT THERE'S STILL HOPE.

Ahaha, I understand the insanity. And I haven't picked up a new comic in years and years, and every once in a while I look up what my favorite characters are doing and go WTF and back away slowly. I think I had an X-Men window, and that window is now closed.

As for Kitty/Pete, this might be my skewed perception as well, but I was under the impression that "Kitty obvs belongs with Colossus!!!" and that Pete was too much of a John Constantine Lite character for anyone to love. Except I loved him and Kitty together, being adorable and obviously having a hell of a sex life.

Hrm. I hadn't really thought of the Kitty/Piotr shippers much, but there's apparently even a comm I feel like starting a ship war for kicks ahem. Not really.

Anyway, most of the people I know that read comics are Pryde/Wisdom shippers. And Fonts of Wisdom is still going, though I expect that's mostly because Luba's been updating with Buffy and Angel fic.

To be fair, most of the people I know are Kitty fans first, and Pete makes her happy.

He, I was kinda the same when it came to names like that(that is, names that aren't ordinary and refers to a certain thing)when I was younger. I just thought they sounded cool, and didn't think about/knew what they meant until I was older. Though, I did learn something new when I learned what the names meant/stood for :)
