Or freed you from the thoughts that authority figures are to be trusted unconditionally?
His stuff tends to show how innocents who try to be good just suffer and suffer while bad evil people do whatever they want and have long happy lives. He was pretty much thumbing his nose at the whole world, the hypocrisy of the government and church.
He was also a huge JERK! Haha (poisoning prostitutes is NOT COOL DUDE)
But I can see how his writing could kind of set you free, if you bought into the philosophy that lifes too short to give a crap what anyone thinks?
