Actually, removing the ovaries is what causes the disruptions in hormonal processes. Just taking out the uterus doesn't affect that. I had a hysterectomy last May, and I still have PMS and other symptoms associated with my periods like I used to - just not the periods themselves or the associated cramping. It's very nice. :-)
