Agreed, especially when these physical features have no relevance whatsoever to what's going on. If the character being black haired is important, go ahead call him black-haired. If it's just being used as a clumsy way to tell the characters apart, reword.

Also, If you have to constantly refer to the characters as something other than "him" or "her" in order for the audience to figure out who is speaking, you aren't letting the paragraphing, pov and context clues cue the reader in. Work on that and the problem resolves.
