Except you know, all the people I've seen who are vegans. I'd like to believe your tale of perfect health but I hear the same argument from smokers all the time.
Uh yeah, the thing that keeps you from dying, white blood cells and the energy you generally need to maintain it. Including vitamins. I agree with your 'diet high in animal proteins has been shown to leech calcium from the bones' but that's if you like…eat a more meat then veggie diet/eat to much in general.
Also I'd love to agree with your 'FDA says so' statement but…they're the same people who's diet would have made the world obese as it had way to much you were suppose to consume. Also the FDA is usually in someone's pocket or another's so I like to go by the: eat what is healthy that I know by practice, personal history and family health.
Your 'meat is not necessary' could also be seen as utterly ignorant as people still need the damn proteins/vitamins/oils in meat to live. A healthy balanced diet is what is needed, you don't heal a cut on your arm by amputating the whole damn arm.
