Regarding the English Vocaloids, it's all the producer working on it and how much they finetune it. Japanese Vocaloids always sounding good? Very untrue, and there are videos on Nico (and youtube) to prove it. There's also the argument that the Japanese vocals will automatically sound better to people because they don't fully understand the language so they make the assumption it's ~perfect~.

I hesitate to say this but, most English Vocaloid producers don't work on their VSQs long enough to make it sound realistic. It's also much harder to work with English Vocaloids, due to the complexity of the language. Until someone steps up to the plate to really work on something with an English speaking Vocaloid, they will still carry the stigma of being awful. (Plus, professionals who have used English Vocaloids commercially cannot list the avatar's name without permission.)

/tl;dr Engloids don't suck, it's all in the work put in towards making them sounds real

THANK YOU, that is exactly what's going on. I know of someone who majored in Japanese and learned his favorite series had TERRIBLE japanese voices. They didn't know it beforehand either. It happens, trust me.

Yeah, I know, but I like to leave it as 'an argument' because I have had people bitching at me for saying so (who were, indeed, not fluent in Japanese to be able to prove me wrong). Unfortunately, most people never realise this or just stay in denial over it when do do learn of this.

Once you do understand a lot of Japanese, it becomes painfully apparent when characters are just... flat in their vocal expression.
