Also, I feel I should add these are all things Dutch children could read in high school. We don't really have 'required' books - some books are discussed in class and you have to read parts of it for class discussion, but otherwise you're pretty free in what you can read. You have to read a number of Dutch and English (and, if you take those courses, French, German, Latin and ancient Greek) books from different time periods, but you can choose yourself which books you will read. As there are ca. 100 authors to choose from, plus some of the books can be completely new books as long as they are approved by the teacher, people can select books that fit their tastes.
