It's really all Square's fault, too. The Compilation KILLED FFVII, because it brought in a new wave of disgusting, weeabo fanbrats.

Exactly. All these people who didn't play the game and had no intention of playing the game started acting like they knew everything and in doing so completely ruined characterization. AC was shit in my opinion. It was pretty and shiny and I fangirled harder than most when it finally was released, but it was because I was finally getting to see something I had loved for years and had made so many friends through and had defined a lot of who I was indirectly because of friends and experiences rendered so beautifully. It was something I had talked about for years ... but yanno, as a film it sucked. It made the game pointless ... it raped canon and overall just was like some really pretty packaged fanfiction.

Which was all fine and good ... but then the new fans came and made it their gospel.
