I agree. I'm especially bothered by the fact that Kim got very little in the way of real closure.

Kim is my favourite character (probably because she reminds me a LOT of many, many of my female friends) so seeing her get no closure... ugh.

kim deserved some closure. i rushed through the comic as i was borrowing, so i didnt notice, but now youve mention it...its gona bug me.

to fanfiction, i belive, witch can fill the whole in all my ending releated sorrows...

I didn't like that Scott got a girlfriend. He is a loser.
Although I will never understand what made Ramona so much better than Knives.

The point of the comics is that Scott, who is very much a loser and a deconstruction of the manchild, grows a pair. He gets a bunch of heavy shit dropped in his lap and is forced to either nut up or shut up.

That's a valid theme but the reactions of the reader are going to hinge entirely on how much they think Scott deserved his last-minute redemption after being a douche for countless pages. I'm in the camp that he didn't.

Plus, in real life, guys like that only get worse with time, not better. So it just read false.

I think maybe it was because it was a more ambiguous and realistic note, rather than "happily ever after" I dont really like Ramona, but I thought the way they were handled at the end really respected the depth of what a real relationship can be. So eh.

I dont think everyone has to wind up with an SO to get closure.

I didn't get this from the end of the comics, but the end of the movie? Kind of made me sad and troubled. Sure, Scott has really grown up and he and Ramona look like they're going to be happy together, but the implication is that he's leaving town forever and never going to see any of his friends again! That made me sad!

I guess the comics had a bit of that too, what with the door at the end, but since before the last scene we didn't see Scott effectively severing all ties with everyone he knows but instead settling into his community, I figured that they were just going for a stroll and would be right back, as opposed to ~moving on.

It bothered me because I couldn't find the point. I mean, Scott seems to have some sort of epiphany and they defeat Gideon, but it just doesn't seem like there was really any character development. It was just like "I understand now!" and that's that. Understand what?? I can see Ramona having some character development, but Scott never seemed any different than before to me.

If that was the point, cool, but otherwise it kinda bothered me.

I didn't really get it, either, but from what I've been told, the whole epiphany thing is that Scott's now self-aware of the fact he sucks ass, and can now work towards not sucking ass. He's come to acknowledge his faults, rather than glossing over them, and hopefully he can grow from it.
