I don't mind "lover", but there's plenty of other epithets I can't stand. Like "the taller/shorter man/woman" or "the fairer/darker man/woman". Epithets are very YMMV, IMO.

Or people being designated by their profession, while they're actually having sex.

ooh that one's rife in blake's 7 fandom. the number of avon/vila sex scenes i've read where 'the computer tech' and 'the thief' are having hot sex... it's always a bit weird.

I see this all the time in the Ace Attorney fandom. Especially with P/E.

Granted, I can see why epithets are... well, perhaps not necessary, but useful in slash. All those "he" pronouns can get confusing.
