Cool. I'm glad you liked it, but it was poorly paced, poorly put together and so much of the characterization was weak and glossed over. If you can see past that and appreciate the concept and themes and world despite all of that, that's awesome but it doesn't make you smarter than your average FF fan. It makes you possibly more patient. I can relate because FFT is my favourite Final Fantasy and you know the rep that story has.

XII is kind of a mar on the Ivalice thing for me since I had such high hopes. But Matsuno apparently had a health breakdown and left the project halfway through, which I guess is why most of the game reads like his cliff notes rather than something actually on par with Vagrant Story or any of the Ogre games.

It breaks my heart that FFXII didn't get to be the game Matsuno wanted it to be, because I'm convinced that if he'd had enough time and more control, it would have been amazing. I still love FFXII to bits but it's clear it underperformed it's potential.
