It should remind you of Salem's Lot as the novels that inspired the anime are supposed to be homages to Salem's Lot. They're way too close to comfort for me, but homages nonetheless.

Really? That's interesting! I was definitely getting 'Salem's Lot vibes from the very first episode. XD

Me too, and they got me really uncomfortable around episode 6, when I decided to google around to see if I had been the only one who noticed them and it was then when I found a lot of blogs talking about Ono (the author) saying that 'Salem's Lot was a favorite book of hers, and that she wanted to do an homage. I still think she got way too close to the original, but then the parallels became more clear.

It's funny, because now that you told me this, I can think of a lot more connections than I did originally when it was just me going "huh, this is kind of like 'Salem's Lot!" It's kinda making me want to rewatch just to see if I can catch everything.
