Go on with your work, anon! There is always hope..

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
I will. I can't tell you how excited just...getting this secret out there has made me. I feel giddy, and... like, even though it's short and totally obscure...it's there, and it's my baby.

<3 Going to be drawing the next page, my dirty room can wait another couple of hours!

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think this is that weird...I think most creators want acknowledgment, even if it's just a fandom secret saying they liked a fanfic of yours or something. I have to admit, if I was working on an original work that was released to the public, I'd be pretty excited about a secret getting on here, too!

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
It does feel like acknowledgment. Just a "hey, I'm glad this artist is drawing again."

I rarely get comments, and my reader numbers are in the low 20's. I work hard on learning better art, and I just...want some feed back...Y'know?

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
If you want, you can totes message me a link to your webcomic, and I'll read it, OP. I love webcomics and I've been looking for some new ones to peruse anyway. :3

I'd like to read your webcomic. Well depending on the topic.
And maybe you can look at no secrets as having a good fanbase who doesn't feel uncomfortable about anything that they'd need to make secrets about it.

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
As a webcomic artist/writer, I can see where you're coming from but remember:

Original works >>> fanworks in my opinion. It requires more time, dedication and passion to get there with an original work, but once you're there you're golden. Plus, such fans tend to be more dedicated. I'd rather have 10 dedicated people to talk to then 100 drones who like my work simply because I drew a popular character from series X.

Keep going, and never give up!

I don't think that's weird at all, anon

[identity profile] mspotamus.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I knew what webcomic you wrote because I'd love to check it out!

I nearly shit a brick when I saw my comic show up here. I've had three total and I love every single one of them.

[identity profile] trash-kun.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
i do this too, anon D; we'll make it~!

[identity profile] streetcake.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm curious about this webcomic. D:

[identity profile] itachinyu.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
OH WOW I was just talking to my friend about this the other night. I started a webcomic the other week and it's nothing major but it does seem to be more popular than I thought it was going to be, and we were joking that the truest measure of success would be when people start making wanky fandom secrets over it.
It's my goal.

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I do this too, anon. But I'm close to the end of the whole story so my chances to ever make it here are slimming with every update haha
Then I remember that there are tons of amazing webcomics out there and which never make it onto here, either.

[identity profile] komiyan.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Been doing this for months. We're all losers here, my dear :)

Same her Anon. And it's not that I'm lacking in fans. They're just mostly lazy.

[identity profile] rabbitucker.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Out of curiosity, what comic is it? I know that revealing the comic would force you to revel your identity, but still I am curious.

[identity profile] cloud-riven.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
You know, when I like something that's fairly niche or unknown and want to rec it to a bunch of people at once, I submit a secret about it. I've only been accused of being the artist of the source material (as OP, not under my name) once.

You could, you know, make a stealth secret about your comic. I could always do with more webcomic recs too y'know :)

[identity profile] missxstargirl.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Naw, man, that is so legit. If I ever get a webcomic going I'd want the same thing~

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Now I'm curious to see your webcomic. :(

Even if you don't reveal yourself here, send me a link in a message so I can check it out?

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I've been working on a comic for ages and started updating it in 2009. I'm no one special and while I am blessed with a few kind readers... I don't get recognition here either.

I wish you the best of luck, and good luck to all of our fellow stylus-pushers.

(Anonymous) - 2011-02-20 20:02 (UTC) - Expand

I'm the OP

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
And...Seeing my secret as #1 nearly gave me a heart attack. I was like "What"! when I saw it, wondering who had been on my computer, posting things to the internet!

I honestly giggled for a whole five minutes.

Those who wanna know what comic, I'll PM it to you... I just...I dunno, I judge myself, my work, through others, and even though the comic isn't very long at the moment...it's been with me for more than five years. A positive secret about my comic would just...make me wee myself a little.

Thanks. For those of you who know me, I'm cleaning my desk this evening, and I will be updating on Tuesday. <3
