Don't let it get to you, some times people hate people in fandom for really stupid and unfounded reasons. If you like them just keep being a friend.

Well, outside of fandom, people become my friend IRL only to find out that lots of people hate me. It's their choice whether they want to stay my friend. I always hope they do.

It probably means you're too nice. But that's not necessarily a bad thing!

I sort of agree, but would also like to add: being "too nice" can lead to having a lot of very toxic people in your life. I had three codependent friends in as many years when I was in high school because I was "too nice" to tell them to back off...

It's happened to me a few times. The one I'm still friends is more amused than anything that people hate her, and I feel rather the same way about the occasional accusations of being her minion, so it works out.

I think this is more of a "why do my friends always turn out to be hated so much" and less of a "I stop being friends with them because of it"

It's still relying on other people's opinions. Another friend's might be different since it might be bred of genuine concern. The latter just involves more action than the former.

Who gives a shit? If you think they're great, then they're great. People will hate on anyone who is just honest with them, even. I know a shitload of people who are greatly hated, but that's because they aren't fake chicken shit pussies and speak their mind.
