I saw the movie first and am just now reading the first book. I can appreciate the differences and still like them both. Your attitude is refreshing, OP, because normally people who read the book(s) first hate the movie if it's too different.

Really? D:
Well good for you I guess.

I cringed so much at this movie.

... I've never read the Legend of Guardians book, but if you think the movie was amazing, I have to be instantly suspicious, because even I, an incredibly lax movie critic, could tell that that movie was fucking terrible. There was nothing good about it other than the animation and the design of a few of the villains.

But to each her own, I guess.

... how about hating the movie because it was a bad movie, huh?

(And omigod I am still not over what they did to Annabeth or Hades/the Underworld. OMIGOD. D: )

That movie entertained me too! But I have a history of just going to fantasy movies no matter how they look with the belief that I am investing my money in what will one day be a golden age of kickass fantasy films.

(dear HBO MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE)

First, let me just say how happy I am to see a PJO secret. That series does not get enough love.

And second, I enjoyed the movie. I certainly don't think it was the best, but it served its purpose. It was a mass-produced, prepackaged movie whose sole reason for existing was to entertain and not much else, and that's okay. I personally think there should be a bigger detachment in people's minds about a book and its movie. Yes, we all expect something from the movie, but I think we should also remember that there are numbers of people who went to go see it and hadn't even heard of the book. And just because your favorite book was turned into a bad movie does not mean it's the end of the world. Mediocrity is okay sometimes.

All in all, a decent movie, but a terrible adaptation. Just my two cents.

Totally nothing wrong with liking the movie... I read the book first, and still loved it despite the inconsistencies. I mean, it's not a great film, but it is an entertaining movie.
(Doesn't hurt that Logan Lerman was some seriously hot jail bait.)

I saw the movie before I read the book. I much prefer the movie Grover. Book Grover was sooo goat-tropey. Ugh. Plus it went to my home town and I could so shout I KNOW THAT PLACE I'VE BEEN THERE.

I did like the book for how well the guy did his research but I couldn't read past the first one because the main characters annoyed me.

*FOAMS AT MOUTH* HOW DARE YOU LIKE THE MOVIE!!!!

Just kidding.

I can respect you for liking it and being honest, but I found it terrible. As a film it was just okay, not that good but not bad, it was entertaining enough and Kevin McKidd is damn sexy. As an adaptation, *cringes* it was really bad.

I liked The Lost Hero, but I was pretty disappointed with there being no Percy, too. However, I FUCKING LOVED LEO! I liked Piper and Jason enough, but I don't know...aside from the cool stuff, like Piper proving that Aphrodite's kids all aren't just pretty snobs or Jason being the son of a Roman god, they felt like recycled versions of Annabeth and Percy, both of whom I love, by the way. Leo, at times, kind of felt a bit like Grover, but I really appreciated that Riordan let us get into his mind of always feeling like the sidekick. I found his story the most interesting.

I think the main reason I liked the movie was because of Luke. Mmm, that guy was super hot.
But I've been reading the books and I enjoy them. You're a cool guy for liking both after reading books first. :D

ROCK ON, dude!
