You'd only be a pedo if you were attracted to Ciel or that other kid (I only read the manga so I don't know his name). One can enjoy Black Butler and not be into shota as, at least in the manga, there are no canon pairs like that. Though I could see why you might be embarrassed about saying you like it as that is the general image of the fandom.

As someone said in a comment below, attraction to a drawn character =/= attraction to a real kid therefore an attraction to Ciel or Alois still wouldn't make them a pedo. Perhaps a shotacon, at best.

Sorry, I forget not everyone's been around for all the discussions we've had here. However, it's not "fandom trends" so much as it's insensitive to refer to a character who's been a victim of sexual abuse and mental/emotional trauma as a slutty psycho.

Dude, you can like the series and fucking HATE the main characters lol. I'm in it for the shinigami (and for the circus characters). I root against Ciel and Sebastian regularly, and I only mildly liked Claude in S2 because he was kind of a troll to Sebastian. :P And I roll my eyes at the Ciel/Sebastian fanservice. Ick.

I love this anime, it's like brain candy. So bad, but SOOO GOOOOOOD.

If you want a legit reason for liking it, I highly suggest the manga. The characters have a whole load of depth. Especially Ciel, who goes from tsuntsun shota to abrasive, introverted boy with trust issues and a severe case of PTSD from his kidnapping and torture. He goes full up psychotic when he was triggered.

The side characters are also genuinely funny and lovable too, soooo.
(Latest manga updates; death god uses his lawnmower to raze a zombie's head. Manga is pretty much just as nutty and amusing as the anime at this point.)

Well, the anime is pretty much designed to be fanservice and little else. Especially the second one, which is very, very pretty, but the less said of the story, the better. And contrary to popular opinion, I don't think attraction to a drawn character in any way translates to attraction to a real kid. As long as you're not attracted to real children you're ok, OP!

If you want a good story with good characters (and also better drawn, IMO), read the manga. The first story is a little weak, but the rest is fantastic, and it just keeps getting better.
