Who are you to be talking about female empowerment when you're calling her a trashbag whore? Yeah, that isn't hypocritical at all. It's buying into the idea that women who have sex whenever they want are somehow disgusting or amoral.

Look, I'm not saying that I think it's the wisest decision, or that it'll earn her respect - it doesn't. But realistically speaking, she probably wouldn't have gotten much notice if she was just another blonde pop singer. She needed something to make her stand out, and I guess her schtick was the glitter-covered party girl. Again, it's not the path to accolades or critical acclaim, but the fact that you know who she is proves that it worked.

Which honestly puzzles me - why does it seem like you can't like both? Last time I checked, it's not like the two singers were at each others' throats for being the most ~out there. Both of them do their own thing, though Lady Gaga is more avant-garde and Ke$ha adores her Jack Daniels and glitter very, very much. Why the hatred amongst fans?

Yeah, I like them both a lot too. I mean, Lady Gaga's a better singer, but some of Ke$ha's songs are catchier, so...
