It's a cartoon series that I don't understand, nor really care to understand, why people get all irate over someone's ship. Who cares if that person like's Katara/Sokka or Aunt Wu/Dragon or Meng/Toph... at the end of the day its all fun and games. It doesn't make a difference who, what or why these ships do or do not work.
Wasting time fine combing a show made for 10 year old children is fruitless and ridiculous. I don't believe explaining it should even matter.
