All things aside, being the ugly sister and having an ugly name doesn't give someone the right to treat their siblings' child like crap. I'm sure you have deeper feelings about the situation than that (I'm really hoping that you do) but those reasons don't hold any water in the grand scheme of things.

And having a grudge against some kid's father (who you got murdered anyway) makes it more okay to abuse a child? Of course, looking at the chain of bizarre and almost delusional arguments you've left in your own comments' threads, I guess I'm not surprised.

Simply having a grudge against someone doesn't make anything form of abuse alright. Being a victim of childhood abuse and trauma makes it understandable why someone would grow into a bitter and cruel person. Don't mistake my comments about how Snape's behavior has an understandable root for attempts to say that his actions are in any way OK and can be ignored. That was definitely not my intention. If that's what you got from my comments, then we ran into a misunderstanding somewhere down the line.

You know, you keep pulling this rationalization for your argument. Maybe you need to apply it to the people against whom you're crusading, here. Because you're extremely one-sided and dominating this whole thread with that. Maybe you should consider that if you have to keep saying "you misunderstand me" to everyone here, there's something wrong with your argument.

I probably just fail at expressing myself. It wouldn't be the first or the last time. A lot of my initial comments were written as I was in the middle of performing in a play last night (probably not the best idea but I was bored backstage) so I'm not surprised if I misspoke at one turn or another. There are other comments on the thread that I've replied to because they said what I wanted to say much better than I actually did so I really do think it's a self-expression fail on my part.

Oh no, oh course not, there's no excuse as to treating Harry like that, sorry if it came off that way. She's not a good person in the least, nor is Snape really. I guess I just find her sympathetic, in the sense that yeah, I would understand why she would be full of hatred towards the magical world, first for shutting her out, then for taking her sister away. Still not an excuse for the flat out abuse towards Harry, but I at least find her interesting for remembering things about the Wizarding World, like we just scratched the surface about her. I'm actually kind of bitter there was no last conversation between her and Harry at all.

I think the fact that there wasn't says a lot. Like, she kinda wanted to say something but her pride and the way she's acted her whole life stopped her. It's a lot like Snape and how, even though he came to like Harry in the end, he still couldn't really change the way he'd been acting for so long because he really didn't know how.

I guess I'm just more sympathetic to Snape because I was raised with very strong family values and if it were my estranged late sister's child that I was put in charge of, I would never ever treat them the way she treated Harry, no matter how much I may have hated my sister.

My ability to understand Snape's situation also comes from growing up in a really bad neighborhood and seeing friends from broken homes fall to really bad influences even though I tried my best to help them. I would never say that their terrible actions shouldn't be punished but I would pity them more because they were victims of awful circumstances and made bad choices because of that.

I just really failed at expressing this to people last night and now everyone thinks I'm a nutter. *head desk*
