Me too. I love his voice, his personality, and his stuff with Malice Mizer, but although I've listened to a lot of his solo works, I only like three songs. IDK if you've heard Mizerable (which pretty much just sounds like a Gackt-era Malice Mizer song anyways), Vanilla, or Mirror, but those any the ones I like.

Yeah, Vanilla (silly little song that it is), Secret Garden and Sekirei are pretty much the only Gackt songs I've ever liked. And even those are not particularly interesting or unique... they're generic late '90s JRock songs.

Not a fan of solo-Gackt and I'm severely lacking in Gackt-era Malice Mizer music, but I agree on those being his best songs.

Outside of the ones someone already listed, Jesus is one of the only solo songs of his I listen to. But that's mostly because of him sampling Metallica's One than anything else Gackt's doing on that track.

Which songs are exactly considered 'generic'?
It's funny, because the songs of his I get really bored of fast are the ones I consider 'overrated', ex. Mizerable, Vanilla, Redemption because those are the only ones people who don't like Gackt's solo music or don't know him really are the ones people always seem to like.
I never really thought the stuff he did with Malice Mizer were really 'Gackt' either.
At least someone who doesn't like his solo work thinks his voice automatically doesn't suck though.

As an obvious crazy Gackt fan, I have no problem saying some of his songs annoy the crap out of me because people gush over them because they're the popular ones. I would love if 'Cube' or 'Uncontrol' were as popular as friggin Vanilla is. I feel like Vanilla is mostly popular because of its sexual nature, & Redemption is just popular because its a FF song. He has songs that are so much better.

*shrugs* Welcome to the world of "I loved that singer when they were with GroupX but I just don't like any of their solo songs". Happened to countless fans before you, and will happen to countless more after you. Happened to me back in the day with Sting, for example.

I'm a bit bothered by the last paragraph of your secret, though. I mean, you make it sound like you know better than Gackt what he should be singing. Except that, you know, he went solo precisely so he could sing what he wanted to sing. That's his voice, his talent, his choices - that's the POINT of going solo...
